Denver

Outdoor Getaway in Denver

In my quest to reinvigorate my mind and attitude, I headed west for fun and excitement in the wilds of the #RockyMountians. Based out of #Denver, I found more than enough thrills to shake me from my rut. The #MileHighCity is a must-see location for all of those who are craving a little more #adventure and an #active break.

Sometimes, all you need is to get away and refresh your mind.
It had been hard to find motivation. Life can get really hectic, draining us of our creativity and sense of happiness. Whether it is trying to combat the challenges at work, trying to improve my fitness, pick up a new hobby… everything can just feel a little “blah.” Of course, there’s nothing like a little 'travel' to reinvigorate your body and mind.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains did wonders for me in my time of “blah.” Perhaps an outdoor getaway in Denver’s Rocky Mountains can do the same for you…
No one should not visit Colorado without taking a whitewater rafting trip.

After a short drive to Morrison, which is 20 minutes from downtown Denver, we arrived at Geo Tours.

Geo Tours offers a variety of whitewater rafting options, including overnight and multi-day options in multiple locations. We elected to go with the part-day trip along Clear Creek. We were provided access, gear and guides who took us down Class II rapids (with many of us being first-time paddlers, we choose these. Class IV+ rapids are also options for the more experienced).
The actual act of rafting itself was immensely fun! The peaks and valleys of calm waters and crazy rapids made for thrills around every creek bend.

You also weren't getting pummeled about for hours at a time; there was plenty of time to relax and enjoy the absolutely breathtaking scenery and take photographs. It was quite an adrenaline-pumping good time, filled with thrills, spills, and tons of smiles.

After the exhilaration on the water, we needed some time to wind down and re-charge the batteries. Fortunately, our accommodations at the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Downtown offered just the remedy. Located in the heart of the city, the Hilton Garden Inn is a stylish facility which even includes a fireplace in the lobby.

Our room possessed all the creature comforts you could require, including one of the most fantastic beds I have ever slept on while on the road. Our room topped it off by providing a stunning view of the Rocky Mountains.

After a delicious meal at the hotel’s very own restaurant, we were relaxed, rested, and revving to continue on our adventure into night at the Denver Pavilions and everything else the Mile High City had to offer.
We continued our outdoor adventure the next day by returning to Clear Creek. But instead of making our way to the waterways, we elected to enjoy a pleasurable trail ride and the thrill of horse riding.

Stir to Learn

Accompanied by a phenomenally knowledgeable guide, we traversed up and down mountain trails that once were walked by the miners, fur-trappers and Native Americans who once dominated the area. We were even able to see first-hand old mining graveyards and old mines not accessible by cars. The horses were remarkable good-natured and well-trained, allowing us to take in the sights and sounds without a care in the world.
